Listen to this BBC podcast/program about finding the right therapist for you. They stress the importance of a good relationship with your therapist and I would agree wholeheartedly with this. It is important that you find a therapist with whom you feel a bond. You may not be able to explain the connection but trust yourself and how you feel in the room with a new therapist, even after the first session it is likely you will have a sense of the person. If you feel uneasy or misunderstood, let your therapist know if you are able to. When you come and see me for a first session I will pay careful attention to our relationship and welcome feedback on an ongoing basis.
